Tour Bus Parking Regulations in Atlanta
There aren’t many restrictions on where your charter bus can drive in Atlanta, making it easy to be dropped off right at the door for many of Atlanta’s top attractions. While some areas might have a bit of a walk to the venue from the drop-off point, like Truist Park, they’re happy to provide accommodations for guests with mobility issues. Just give them a call and let them know what you need.
Staging, Loading, and Unloading an Atlanta Charter Bus
When staging, loading, or unloading your Atlanta charter bus, do not:
Park on yellow curbs or crosswalks
Block MARTA stops
Idle for longer than 15 minutes
There are also many residential areas, like the Ansley Park neighborhood in Midtown, which prohibit charter bus parking.
Overnight Charter Bus Parking in Atlanta
For overnight charter bus parking in Atlanta, we recommend talking to your hotel first about any available options on-site. Many offer oversized vehicle parking for a fee, but spaces can be limited, so make sure to call and ask about these accommodations in advance. If your hotel does not offer on-site parking for charter buses, the Georgia World Congress Center Marshalling Yard offers a large, patrolled lot where you can park overnight for a fee (reservations must be made in advance).

Where to Park at Popular Tourist Destinations in Atlanta
Now that we’ve gone over some of the general rules for parking a charter bus in Atlanta, we can look closer at some of the top tourist destinations in the city! Remember that these guidelines are subject to change at any time, so be sure to confirm where your charter bus can park and unload at each destination before arriving.
Georgia World Congress Center
Located in the heart of Downtown Atlanta, the Georgia World Congress Center (GWCC) is a premier venue for conventions, tradeshows, and more. It’s also next door to, and shares parking with, world-class sports venues Mercedes-Benz Stadium and State Farm Arena.
Georgia World Congress Center: For Building A or B, use the official Transportation Terminal on Andrew Young International Blvd. For Building C, use Bus Lane C on Northside Drive. Charter Bus parking is available at the GWCC Marshalling Yard for $25 (price is subject to change).
Mercedes-Benz Stadium: For loading/unloading, use the GWCC Bus Lane C on Northside Drive. Charter Bus parking is available at the GWCC Marshalling Yard for $25 (price is subject to change).
State Farm Arena: Here, charter buses can utilize the GWCC Transportation Terminal on Andrew Young International Blvd or the Ruby Lot for loading and unloading. To park your charter bus at State Farm Arena, contact their parking team directly and a representative will help find accommodations for you.
Pemberton Place
Three of Atlanta’s most popular spots: World of Coke, Georgia Aquarium, and The National Center for Civil and Human Rights, are all conveniently located in the Pemberton Place area of Downtown Atlanta, making it easy to visit all three in one day without having to constantly get on and off your Atlanta bus rental. Just select where you’d like to be dropped off and then it’s an easy three-minute walk across a lush green space to check out either of the other attractions. There are multiple designated areas for charter bus drop-offs around the three locations, so you can work with your charter bus driver to decide which would best suit your needs.
World of Coke: Use the designated bus lane along Baker St.
Georgia Aquarium: Loading/unloading can be done near the Aquarium’s main entrance on Lucky St.
National Center for Civil and Human Rights: Bus drop-offs/pick-ups are permitted at the Ivan Allen Jr. Blvd NW Plaza.
Once your group has unloaded, your charter bus driver can park the vehicle at the Georgia World Congress Center Marshalling Yard, which is only a five-minute drive from Pemberton Place. Parking here is typically $25, but can vary if there’s a major event going on.
Zoo Atlanta
Lions, tigers, and bears are only the tip of animals you can see at Zoo Atlanta. To get your adventure started, your charter bus driver will drop you off at the circle drive at 800 Cherokee Avenue, S.E., Atlanta, GA 30315. From there, your charter bus can be parked off-site at one of two locations:
- Georgia State University – Purple Lot at 838 Crew Street, Atlanta, GA 30315
- The GWCC Marshalling Yard at 362 Ivan Allen Jr. Boulevard, Atlanta, GA, 30313
Truist Park
Cheer on the Atlanta Braves with a visit to Truist Park! When visiting, oversized vehicles can park in lot 29 off of Circle 75 Parkway. Bus parking permits range from $50-$75 and must be reserved in advance.
Woodruff Arts Center
Midtown Atlanta’s artistic hub, the Woodruff Arts Center, is home to the Alliance Theatre, the High Museum of Art, and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra (ASO). The WAC organizations all direct buses to park on one of the streets surrounding the complex, 15th Street, 16th Street, Arts Center Way, or West Peachtree Street. For loading and unloading, each organization has a preferred location for groups to use:
High Museum of Art: For the High Museum, buses can use the loading zone in front of the Woodruff Center on Peachtree St Ne. The Museum has provided this High Museum bus parking map, which they recommend printing out and giving to your driver.
Alliance Theatre: At the Alliance Theatre, turn into the Arts Center driveway (just beyond the large Arts Center marquee), and then passengers can be dropped off in front of the door into the Lobby.
Atlanta Symphony Orchestra: ASO Attendees can be dropped off either at the Callaway Plaza in the Arts Center Driveway (turn just beyond the large Arts Center marquee) or on 15th Street. For a visual aid, check out the ASO campus map provided on their website.
Hartsfield-Jackson Airport (ATL)
Consistently ranked as the busiest airport in the world, there’s no better place to have an experienced charter bus driver take the wheel than at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport (ATL). Typically, for domestic flights, your charter bus driver can either meet you inside the terminal in the atrium, idling curbside on the Lower Level of your terminal, or in the Ground Transportation Center. If you’re flying internationally, your bus might be able to meet you on the Lower Level of your terminal, but you will most likely need to take an Atlanta Airport shuttle to the domestic terminal’s Lower Level or to the Ground Transportation Center.
We know this can seem quite daunting to travelers, but your driver will be experienced with navigating the Atlanta Airport and its drop-off and pick-up areas. Just be sure to coordinate directly with your driver to know exactly where you’ll meet for pick-up.
