The Greenest Way to Move a Group: CharterUP’s Commitment to Sustainable Transportation

Published April 22, 2026

The future of transportation is electric, autonomous, and shared. CharterUP is driving that change.

At CharterUP, sustainability is built into how we operate.

In Fall 2025, we launched a fully electric charter operation in Southern California, deploying a fleet of Temsa TS45E coaches. The program – the largest EV fleet in the private charter bus market – proved that zero-emission transportation can perform reliably at real-world scale, even during peak demand.

We’re also investing in what comes next. Through our partnership with HOLON, we are preparing to introduce fully electric, autonomous shuttles across campuses and controlled environments. Designed for high-capacity group travel, these vehicles represent the next step in making shared transportation even cleaner and more efficient.

While these innovations will define the future of clean mobility, the impact of shared transportation is clear today.

Transportation is one of the largest contributors to greenhouse gas emissions in the United States, accounting for more than 28% of total output. For organizations moving large groups, the environmental impact of individual car travel adds up quickly.

Why Group Transportation Matters

The most effective way to lower emissions is straightforward: move more people in fewer vehicles.

According to the American Bus Association’s latest sustainability research, motorcoaches are the most energy-efficient and lowest-emission mode of passenger transportation, outperforming air travel, rail, ferries, and personal vehicles on a per-passenger-mile basis

Motorcoaches can emit as little as 53 grams of CO₂ per passenger-mile, the lowest of any major transportation mode. As advancements in engineering and clean technology continue, that number is expected to decline even further.

Shared motorcoach travel is not just more efficient, it is one of the most immediate and scalable ways to reduce environmental footprint.

CharterUP’s Impact at Scale

CharterUP’s proprietary AI-enabled platform maximizes these advantages by consolidating demand and optimizing routes, reducing unnecessary mileage.

In 2025 alone, CharterUP moved more than 6 million passengers across 12 million miles – helping prevent over 735,000 metric tons of CO₂ emissions compared to single-occupancy vehicle alternatives.

The result is clear: fewer cars on the road, lower emissions per trip, and a more efficient transportation network overall.

Efficient group transportation doesn’t just reduce emissions, it reshapes how cities use space.

Moving Towards Zero

This Earth Day, the path forward is clear. Shared transportation offers an immediate way to reduce emissions while supporting the adoption of cleaner technologies.

At CharterUP, we are committed to leading that shift.  We’re helping move people, and the industry, toward a more sustainable future.
